A stay to Santa Marta

The first time I left my department,Valle del Cauca, went when our teacher told us we were to do our excursion at the end of the last school year. The new department was Magdalena, it is located in North of Colombia, specifically in colombian Caribbean region. Before to visit Santa Marta, we tried to investigate how the people there is; for that reason we had an idea about the behaviors of the tourist, guides and natives, knowing this... Nothing could go wrong . We as Colombians did not think that the  cultural diversity was so evident, starting for the way to speak (they talk too fast), the typical food and how they feel their place like own. In my opinion Santa Marta is a city many enjoyable, funny, entertaining and especially beautiful, for that reason I'm gonna share with you my experience there.

My partners, teacher in charge and me started the trip at 3:00 am o´ clock since Btá D.C whit the tips and advices to our teacher who said: "don't go down of the bus if the driver stop in a road control, don´t attend to anyone who wants to give u some object and no less if they are offering things"  So, we was thinking that the trip would be too bored.

When we put our feets in Santa Marta, the first place that we knew was a hotel called “El Delfin”, which we were to pass two nights during our trip. The tourist place was amazing, it´s name is “El rodadero”. This is a tourist place when the people can feel like samarios because there are many typical restaurants where sell typical food as: Sancocho, banana (guineo), rice with coconut, sea coktails, etc; shops where you can find clothes related with their, for example: shorts, bigs t-shirts, sandals and somethings like that. In El Rodadero there was many foreign was looking like tomatoes, becouse the sun did that theirs skins get burned. The first impression was: Here is very hot.
Our first activity was to walk to look for places where we could find clothes, bigs hats, sunglasses so on. Then, we went to eat to the beach…

The surprise was that the people in the restaurants was cooking ¡chiken, lentils and chicharron! We couldn´t believe it, it was not possible and it´s too strange because normaly in this places the pople sell fish and sea food. Do we thought that knew everything? Ja! There we go. For our surprise, the food´s prices were not too expensives, unlike, they let us buy a lot of junk food and sweets to take until the hotel to eat all the night. To break the routine, at nigth a group of thirteen people decided to go out to walk on the street without know the way, the first thning that I did was go to a McDonald to buy a McFlurry accompained by two polple at 11:00 pm. So, while we was buying, another girl thought that was a good idea go only to walk "beside the hotel", I say thought becouse she was missing; it was only she and the moon that followed her.

Ever, in all the groups there is someone who bielives himself brave as a hero, in our case he was the greatest partner and took courage to look for the girl until he found her, for this the teacher was aware of the situation and we won the scolding never received. Thanks to this event, we went to sleep too sad.
The last they at El Rodadero, went to know the beach which receives the same name, when happened that teacher warned us that we`d have to evoil. Arriving to this beach, a seller called to my fellow men and was offering them oysters with lemon "free";but we knew that he was gonna collect the money because in that sense the sellers are too liers and my colleagues too stupids. Then they were arguing and the seller was claiming that he has never given his oysters free to anyone, while my friends saying that he did not mentioned that was selling them. Abou the beach, it is really beautiful, clean and there are a lot of activities that we did here, for example: jet ski, aquiatic banana where throw you into the water with force, rowing boats, so on...

Our last activity was visit a natural park, where we practiced scuba diving. It was a wonderfuñl experience because the professionals were very friendly, patient and attentive because many of us did not know how to use the diving equipment. There we knew a lot of marine species and we had the opportunity to see marine plants too.

To end, the tourist area from Santa Marta is a welcoming place and worth it spend time there, the food is good, the natives are funny people and the physical space is very beautiful.
